WACOM INTUOS 3 REVIEW

Behold. The WACOM Intuos 3.

- the review -

Let me tell you this first. I've already mentally prepared myself for a gazillion times for the initial shock - that the tablet won't make my art look like something that will look like it was hung on the art galleries of the heavens before. But.. I still ended up feeling flabbergasted.

Not in that kind of positive OMG-THIS-IS-SO-NICE shock, but the WTF-HOW-THE-FCK-DO-I-CONTROL-THIS kind of shock.

I swear the stuff I draw on paper is x1394834326 times better than the wacom version. AND my traditional drawings already suck real bad.

First I tried using it as a mouse. I ended up clicking stuff when I wanted to just move the cursor around, and the cursor ALWAYS tap on any button that I pulled across in my journey to reach the great X of the window. I won't even start on the control this pen gives me. The cursor is shivering. Literally. And who was the one who thought that the pen would give me more control as compared to the mouse?

me Some people who misled me with their comments in dA, of course. COUGH. And anyways..

Look at how fuzzy my lines are! I tried doing one stroke stuffs, but the shivering cursor kept making my line ' jump '.

Damn thing also draws when what I wanted was just to move over and select a colour or two. WTF. In the end, after many tries, I found out that I've to lift the tip juuuuusssst a little bit above the tablet, so it won't draw but can still move properly. This isn't really safe though, as sometimes it still draws a line or two. My shaking hand can't take it, you see. I'm used to keeping the pen on the paper. Meh.

I dunno if I'm doing this wrong, but I'm sure that I haven't learnt enough about it yet. Sourcing around for tutorials already. Positive this pen will aid me loads in future, when I do more complicated drawings, but for now..

Maybe I'll just stick to my beloved pencil.

Mr Jiunn's lecture was an eye opener for me. After looking at the many photomanips and sickening Pikachu pictures ( not to say the WonderAIDSwoman ), I've gotten inspired. I've the perfect idea for the advertisement now, but the sad thing is..

I don't have the skill to bring the effect out fully.

I'm researching like hell on references and have started my material collection. Gotta make this work. Gotta be in the top few in class. Even better, get an A++. I'm gonna empty my heart and soul into this piece. WOOT!

Am very satisfied with DesignFund. Life/Death Assignment is doing great. I'm seeing some nice stuff forming already. Loads of ink used. ;_; Have to cherish this sense of highness and arrogance before I go to school tomorrow and see the top two elites dash my hopes again, lol.

I'm jealous ...



Mmmm I'm picking up speed already. Still stumbling along in Fine Arts though. I mean.. PAPER EDGE IS THE SAME AS A RULER!! Wassup with using the paper edge if you have the damn ruler already? Humans created this tool for a purpose, people, a purpose! I can't wait to draw a human body though, fully clothed of course. I'm more interested in human anatomy.

Starting to re-welcome Colour Theory. At least I still haven't screwed up yet.
